ZION PASSION PLAY 2006
A Personal Testimony
My friends, I have an amazing story to share. Last night, God touched my life. Until then, I couldn't remember a time when I had thought about what Christ did
for us. But last night at Passion Play (rehearsal), I just decided to watch the crucifixion scene. I don't know why, I had seen it a million times, but I did. And before
the scene, while they're putting up the crosses, there's a moment where Judas comes into the auditorium, sees what they're doing, and begins to sob. Then Peter
came in and, for one moment, their eyes met. Then Judas ran off, and Peter sank to the ground crying. Then John the Beloved entered. For a long time, he
just looked at the crosses and at Peter, and then began to talk.
It was about when he said, "By his stripes, we are healed," that I began to cry. I cried like I haven't since I was a child. I cried and cried and didn't even care.
Then from the back of the auditorium I heard, "On, you lazy king! I'll lay my whip on your back!" And I began to cry even harder. I couldn't stand it any longer
and left the auditorium, but as I left, I could hear the pounding of the hammer, the wailing of the women followers and the screams of the Christ.
My friends, if you have never seen the Zion Passion Play, make this the year you do. It is truly moving. There were no costumes, there was no blood; there were
just two grown men sobbing and one man screaming in pain. And I cried. And I didn't care.
